Update: Dreamweaver CS3 Extension For Drupal Theming

Around three months ago I wrote about a Dreamweaver CS3 extension for Drupal theming which was being developed by Peter Apokotos, and about which a discussion was happening at the time on the themes mailing list. In the meantime another extension has been discussed on the mailing list, as well as on drupal.org, this time being developed by Sherif Mayika.

The two projects are currently completely separate. According to Sherif, his extension will have support for versions 4,5, and 6 of Drupal and is soon to reach beta. I contacted Peter about the progress of his extension and he told me that 'we have a working extension with just about everything but the kitchen sink in it.' So it looks like Drupal theming is going to be getting some Dreamweaver extension love anytime soon.

One thing that, as far as I'm aware, neither Sherif nor Peter have confirmed yet is whether the extensions will be free or not.

Any screenshots?

Not that I know of Chris.

Sherif's blog about the Drupal Dreamweaver extension has a post which says that a screen shot is coming soon. But there is also the option to sign up as a beta tester, which would obviously give you access to the extension and the opportunity to get your own screen shot.

As for Peter's extension, I'm afraid haven't heard anything lately.

From what I can see of the screenshots, I would certainly purchase this as a product. Especially, if it were very well documented.

Its a real tease.

I've been looking for a good Drupal extension to add to my Joomla and WordPress Dreamweaver tools on my Dreamweaver extensions website.

Thanks for the heads up!

Sweet. I can't wait. I a new Drupal user and can't wait to fully wrap my head around it. This great community is really helping speed up the learning curve.

BTW. I really dig the custom login button. Way to think outside of the box

How I can download this extension whether the extension is released or not.

I don't know if we will be releasing the extension since the developer has since stopped working on the extension. I will see if I can get a status update. My main involvement was to get this project started and test the progress of the extension.

Here's a promising one for WordPress users. It allows you to use Design View in Dreamweaver to navigate WordPress theme files. Also provides updated WordPress 2.5.1 code hints in Code View.

"Opensource News", you are right notepad doesn;t require any extension but requires a lot more knowledge in designing as well as programming. With dreamweaver one could make better blog rather than making in a simple notepad file.

What can I do to make life easier for a photoshop/dreamweaver trained designer to develop drupal themes? I've heard about dreamweaver extensions that help. Are they any good? Perhaps some articles directed toward that sort of a person?

From what I can notice of the screen-shots, I would definitely buy this as a product.
Especially, if it were very fine recognized.

Many Thanks!
